The Bud Selig caption was masterfully done, haha. I'm in agreement with you and I will take it one step further; baseball should only have a 16 game regular season where it then enters a single elimination playoff based on the divisional leaders. This could easily be done in a month and create extra room on television for more manly and culturally relevant entertainment, like Dancing With the Stars and/or American Idol.

I have a solution to how they can increase the number of playoff games and still end in October:

Each team play one doubleheader per month. Over the course of the season that would free up another week. Heck, they could make it one doubleheader every two weeks and even add more games to the schedule.

Of course, that's about as likely as a salary cap.

I'm afraid you are right that eventually the World Series will be a Thanksgiving event.

It would serve them right if a huge winter storm hit the Northeast and they had to wait a week to thaw out and finish the Series.
