Things Keep Getting Worse for Tiger Woods

Posted on February 15, 2011 by Pete South

His spitting incident in Dubai is just the latest negative setback for Tiger Woods.

On the back of a turbulent, controversial couple of years in Tiger Woods’ private life, Woods has this weekend been at the center of controversy for his actions on the course.

His etiquette and behavior was called into question as he was seen spitting on the Golf course and greens, as he took part in the Dubai Desert Classic in Saturday. He has consequently being fined $10,000 by the European Tour for breach of the tour code of conduct. Fans following the latest golf scores won’t have been impressed.

For all the good that Tiger has produced on the golf course, the dark side of Tiger was not welcomed by the golfing world with sky sports commentators referring to his actions as ‘arrogant and petulant’.  It is also claimed that Tiger was heard swearing on parts of the course.

Tiger apologized for his actions via social networking site Twitter on Sunday, saying: “The Euro Tour is right – it was inconsiderate to spit like that and I know better. Just wasn’t thinking and want to say I’m sorry.”

Woods posted a closing 75 – his worst score in a regular European Tour event in his professional career – to finish in 20th. After his longest winless streak since 1996, going 17 Tournaments without a win, these are clear signs that Tiger is feeling the frustration of his recent form following last year’s break from the game after his personal life problems. Those who keep track of his live match score will know this.

The golfing world will certainly hope that Tiger can return to his previous form of years gone by, as we certainly would like to see Tiger in the headlines once again for all the right reasons.
