Danny Green and the San Antonio Spurs Look to Rebound From Disappointment
Danny Green and his San Antonio Spurs were left feeling something resembling shell-shock after their quest for the NBA title ended in defeat. A miraculous comeback by the Miami Heat and a well-played Game 7 resulted in the Spurs tasting defeat in the NBA Finals.
Now, San Antonio’s impressive form last season has seen them tipped by Betfair to be right in contention for this season’s championship.
The good news for Spurs fans interested in sports betting is that Green has made it clear he plans on using the disappointment from last year’s defeat as motivation going into this new NBA season.
“I think it will definitely serve as motivation for me and everybody on the team, “It’s something I won’t ever forget and something that will be hard to put behind me until I win one. It’s something that’s going to live with me until I win a championship,” Green said.
“Just like the previous year when we lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder, everyone is going to have a chip on their shoulder. We know how close we were and we let it slip away and we’re going to come back – stronger, better, more experienced.”
The 26-year old was one of the Spur’s standout players last season, averaging 10.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.2 steals, and 27.5 minutes per game. Green also connected on 44.8% from the field and 42.9% from the three-point line in 80 starts during the regular season.
The New Yorker managed to up his performance during the postseason, with 11.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.0 steals, and 31.9 minutes per game, converting a career-high shooting percentages from the floor (44.6) and from 3-point range (48.2).
