Liverpool and Aston Villa played to a 2-2 tie.

Bookmakers had their hearts in their mouths when Liverpool met Aston Villa at Anfield. They were quite desperate to see one of the most famous teams of the Premier League beaten, and Liverpool definitely helped them get closer when they were held for a 2-2 draw against Aston Villa. Liverpool had a shocker of a start when Villa raced to a 2-0 advantage in the first half but recovered very well. Daniel Sturridge and Steven Gerrard made the most of the opportunities and put the ball in the goal post to secure a draw and grab a point. Daniel Sturridge was able to score a goal before half time through Henderson’s flick, and Steven Gerrard’s penalty leveled the scores after Luis Suarez was tackled by the goal keeper Brad Guzan. The draw leaves Liverpool 2 points ahead of the 5th placed Everton and a point for Villa brings them in the top half of the League, but just 6 points ahead of the relegation zone. Nevertheless, it was still an unbelievable result considering the amount of money that has been put on the Reds.

Liverpool was as short as 1-5 for victory at the start and with such a form it is extremely tough for Brendan Rodgers to lead them to next season of the Champions League. But still Rodgers said that he was confident that his side will never give up the fight and despite the comeback he will regret the dismal first half by his team which eventually led to a drop of 2 points.  It would have otherwise been an easy win at home. He added that it was vital to get that goal before half time.

Villa had just won only 1 of their previous 7 Premier league matches but would have been clearly ahead in the game much earlier had Gabriel Agbonlahor not gone wide. The Reds had gone into the game with 3 wins out of 3 games in 2014 but in front of their owner John W Henry, they were not their usual selves. Suarez was nullified by the visitors even with an exceptional run of 22 goals this season. His starting with Sturridge in an attacking line up didn’t have the desired effect as expected. Many people earned a lot of money in the match while betting from Unibet right from the convenience of their homes.

Arsenal stayed at the top of the league and can be backed at 10-3 to win the prestigious title. They did beat Fulham 2-0 in a derby success even though both the goals came in the 2nd half. Santi Cazorla was the hero as both the goals came through him. Manchester City is a close 2nd with an easy win against Cardiff. City was able to cross the 100 goal mark in the campaign with Edin Dzeko, Jesus Navas, Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero hitting the goals in a comfortable win. This defeat took Cardiff to the bottom amid the fears of relegation from the league. Villa is safe in the tenth position but they are only 6 points clear of Cardiff which means that there is a battle between 11 teams for relegation. Crystal Palace just managed to pull out of the bottom three spot with their win over Stoke whereas Westham after their 1-3 loss to Newcastle are 9-4 for the drop. Yohan Cabaye did score twice in the match for Newcastle at Upton Park whereas Ryan Bennett made a late winner for the Norwich at Hull to ease a lot of pressure.
