Beginners Guide to Camping

Camping is one of the easiest getaways we all can have, no matter where we are living. Camping is a great way to explore the fresh air and scenic outdoors and spend quality and lovely time with our friends and family. As we are living in an area where everybody works from 9 till five and we are bound five days a week. Long getaway is difficult to get. You can hardly travel once or twice in a year, so to maintain our sanity and mental peace, we all need some little escape from the routine. 

If you are someone who has been camping a lot, so you know that camping requires some planning and a few things like a buy water bottle. On the other hand, if you are someone who is going to explore this amazing experience for the first time, there are some things you should consider before going out for it. These things are not just to facilitate your camping, and these things will help you enjoy your camping more and will make it an unforgettable experience for you. Here are some tips, tricks and ways that can help and guide you if you are going to camp for the first time.

Choosing your campsite:

Your campsite, the place you will be going for camping is the most important part of your planning. You are going to find many places where you can camp, but you have to choose them carefully. When choosing your campsite, keep in mind the company you have with you. If you are camping with your kids, make sure that you choose a place which is a kid-friendly place. When going camping for the first time, make sure that you have facilities available like showers and toilets so that you can be a little comfortable. You can also camp at a place that is close to a town that can help you to get the things and supplies if needed. 

Purchase a tent:

Purchasing a tent can be a little tricky. You should buy a tent of a size that is perfect for you. Your tent should not be too big, either too small. It should be of appropriate size. Your tent should be of a size that it could accommodate you and all your belongings you are carrying with you. Your tent should be comfortable so that you can sleep in it peacefully. Make sure that the tent you chose is portable, light and easy to carry. Your tent should have two entrances so that you can easily sneak out of the tent because you cannot sleep or has to use the washroom. Vestibules outside your tent can help you avoid bringing dirty shoes inside the tent. 

Sleeping bags:

When going camping, try carrying a sleeping bag with you because it can get a little cold at night. Buy a sleeping bag according to your height and make sure that it is comfortable and cozy.  There is a variety of tents available in the market according to the temperature, choose the sleeping bag according to your need and weather.

Lights:

Campsites are usually very dark at night, and there are no lights there. Carry a flashlight of your own so that when it gets dark, you can use it. You can also carry lanterns and headlamps, they will free your hand, and you can do your tasks easily. You can also set up campfires but watch out for the restrictions. Campfire sound cool and fun but it can be dangerous in many ways, especially when you have kids with you so light the campfire very carefully and take all the safety precautions.

Coolers:

Make sure you carry cooler of a size that is not too big but can accommodate all your food and drinks. Coolers are very important when you are going camping. Cooler with thick walls and insulators are good and can keep your food and drinks cold for a longer period. Coolers can also help you keep your insulin in it if you are a diabetic person. These coolers are a bit expensive, but they are long-lasting and durable, so the money you are going to spend on these coolers are going to worth it.

Toiletries:

You will need some medicines and bandages when going camping. Make a first aid kit in which try to have all sort of medicines. Prepare yourself for sun and bugs; carry a sunblock and repellents to have a good night sleep. Toilet papers, toothpaste, lotions, toothbrushes and dry shampoo are necessary to pack. Wet wipes and hand sanitizer will be your lifesavers. Keep all these things in your backpack so they will be easily available and accessible for you.

Dress appropriately:

Wear something that you are comfortable in. If it is cold, wear an overcoat because it might be a little chilly at night. Do not wear cotton clothes to camping. Do carry a beanie, long socks and gloves for the nighttime.  Pack a pair of flip-flop for you, and it will help you in your bathroom breaks at nights. Try to wear clothes which are comfortable so that you can enjoy properly. 

Practice camping:

Before going camping for the first time, try to practice camping. This practicing can include you setting up your tent and lying down in it to check if it is the appropriate size or not. Watch online tutorials on how to set up your camp and how can you do it perfectly.  Sleep in your sleeping bag for a day and see if it is comfortable or not. If you have kids with you, introduce them to their tent and sleep in your camps for a night to see if they are comfortable with it or not and what are the things you need during the camping.

Those mentioned above are the few tips that can help you and make your camping experience amazing for you. Leave a little early when going camping so that you can enjoy your ride to your campsite and can set up your tent in the daytime. Make a checklist before leaving for camping and make sure that you get everything pack before you leave. Lastly, leave all your stress and worries behind. When you leave your place for camping, makes sure that you are well-rested so that you can enjoy the experience. 

Camping can help you refuel your mind and soul. It can give you mental peace and pleasure, so if you are going through a rough patch in your life, try getting out of the routine and comfort zone and give yourself a break.
