Posted on October 02, 2019 by John Harris

By its nature, gambling is one of the riskiest ways to make money. However, when done right, it can be one of the most rewarding activities you can ever get into.

The sports betting industry is one of the most lucrative sectors for anyone who wants to make money. For anyone who has ever tried sports betting, wining is one of the most challenging parts of the game.

Here is how to beat the system and stand a better chance of winning.

Understand your sports of choice

Before you can bet on a game, you need to fully understand the game and the team you are about to gamble on. It is pointless to bet on a team you know the least about. If you are a soccer fanatic, you need to do thorough research on the teams you intend to bet on. Start a record-keeping strategy and record every game played. You must know how they perform at every game to be able to make a sound judgment call when it is finally time to place your bet.

Understanding value

Value is a straightforward concept. However, most amblers do not understand it. Having the ability to spot the value of a bet means that you can find high odds and capitalize on such opportunities. If you are committed to sports betting, your job is finding undervalued teams and bet on them.

The most significant advantage you will have over you bookie is to finding matches that have favourable odds.  Sports betting value is one of the hardest parts of the business. However, when done correctly, you will have the ability to spot value odds which gives you a systematic edge continually.

Posted on October 02, 2019 by John Harris

Without a doubt, sports betting is one of the most commonly used means of making money. While the technicalities of betting can make it hard to win cash and easier to lose some, understanding the betting industry places you one step ahead of other gamblers.

This will increase your chances of placing winning bets every time.

Common mistakes made in sports betting

Failure to understand the basics

It takes little time and research to be up to speed with the sports betting industry. You will understand odds and how to place winning bets.

A site such as https://silentbet.com/ has a wealth of information about different bookmakers. This makes it easier for you to choose the most reliable one for your betting activity.

Betting with a mind that is not sober

While this may seem cliché, placing bets while intoxicated increases your chance of making the wrong decisions with your odds choices. When you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, your critical decision-making ability is distorted, and thus you are not in the right frame of mind to place reasonable bets. There have been cases where players risked all their bankroll funds on losing games because they took the chance while drunk or high.

Sports betting is set for exponential growth in the USA following the Supreme Court’s landmark ruling in May 2019.

The decision to repeal the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992, also known by the acronym PASPA, ended the prohibition of gambling on sport throughout America.

Nevada always remained an exception to federal law – alongside Delaware, Montana and Oregon, which also had their own explicit state rules and provisions before PASPA came in. Delaware and six other US states have taken the opportunity to legalize betting on sport.

Here, we take a look at those parts of the United States that have introduced sports gambling so far since the ruling. It’s proving particularly popular in areas with an Atlantic Ocean coastline.

New Jersey

The state of New Jersey actually brought the challenge against PASPA to the Supreme Court in the first place. Having successfully achieved repeal of federal law, it’s no surprise to find sports betting was soon legalized here.

Monmouth Park Racetrack is a major sporting venue in ‘The Garden State’ and it hasn’t taken long for sportsbooks and casinos to open in and around this thoroughbred horse racing venue. Given New Jersey’s metropolitan nature and proximity to New York, millions now have access to legal sports betting here.

Sports Betting: Then and Now 6

Posted on April 16, 2019 by Aaron Beallor

In the course of less than a year, the world of sports betting in the USA has changed exponentially. Where once, betting on sports on websites like Caesars Casino and sports was illegal, now across the USA, more and more states are allowing people to wager on their favorite teams. Today, we’re looking at sports betting then and now, to see just how far things have come…

Then:

Before last May, sports betting was outlawed across the USA as a result of the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) of 1992, a federal act which saw sports betting outlawed for almost two decades. This law was introduced in a bid to preserve the integrity of the sport. Nevada was an exception to that rule, as sports betting laws were already in place. Additionally, sports betting was possible in Delaware, Montana, Nevada and Oregon, where they had pre-existing sports betting frameworks and sports lotteries already in place. Despite the ban, it is estimated that around $150 billion was spent in illegal wagers on the Black Market every year in the United States on both professional and amateur sports betting. That’s more than the GDP of Nebraska! Back then, if you wanted to place a legal wager on the Super Bowl or March Madness, you’d have to hop on a flight to Las Vegas…or risk the consequences of placing a bet with an illegal bookie.

Posted on September 27, 2018 by Dean Hybl

Vegas-hockeyIt is amazing how much the gambling world has changed in a relatively short period of time.

Not long ago, the big innovations were related to online gaming and poker while legal sports gambling was available only in Las Vegas.

Now, with the advent of daily fantasy sports and the ruling by the Supreme Court that has paved the way for every state to legally accept sports betting, the landscape is quite different.

Since the Supreme Cot ruling earlier this year, four states: New Jersey, Delaware West Virginia and Mississippi have already legalized some form of sports betting in their states. Three others: Pennsylvania, New York and Rhode Island are in the final stages of legislation and will likely join the mix very soon.

According to an ESPN study, there are 15 additional states that have started the process towards legalizing some form of sports betting.

All of the remaining states have laws prohibiting sports gambling, but ESPN wrote that with the exception of Utah, there is at least a possibility that sports betting could eventually become legal in those states.

Another dynamic that has changed is the insistence that Las Vegas could not be a professional sports city due to the proximity to gambling. Read the rest of this entry →
