5 Outdoor Accessories to Prepare You for Hunting Season

Posted on March 07, 2022 by Brooke Chaplan

Hunting season is just around the corner, so now can be a good time to get your gear in order. Whether you are an avid hunter or are just getting started, it is important to be prepared. Before you go out on the season’s first expedition, be sure to bring some of these essential accessories with you.

Binoculars

Binoculars are a must-have for any hunter. They allow you to see your target clearly from a distance, making it easier to take accurate shots. Make sure to choose a pair that is comfortable to wear and has a good magnification power. Depending on how long you plan on being out in the wilderness, it can be a good idea to also grab a lighter pair, especially for longer trips where every ounce of weight counts.

Rangefinder

A rangefinder is another essential piece of hunting gear. It helps you determine the distance between you and your target, which is important for making accurate shots. Choose a model that is easy to use and has a good range. Keep your own skill level and what you plan on hunting in mind when you make your purchase as well.

Hunting Knife

A hunting knife is essential to have in the field. It can be used for everything from skinning game to cutting rope. Make sure to choose a knife that is strong, durable, and has a sharp blade. Be sure to become familiar with this tool, because it will need an appropriate sheath and accommodating place to keep it. It may be dangerous to just leave haphazardly laying around in your pack or on your person, especially if you plan on climbing trees to secure a good hunting spot.

Game Bag

A game bag is a must-have for anyone who hunts small game such as rabbits or squirrels. It allows you to carry your game back to camp without getting your clothes or equipment dirty. Choose a bag that is big enough to hold several animals and has sturdy straps for carrying it easily on your back. The final size of the bag will depend largely on how much gear you plan on bringing with you and how light you need to carry for the day.

Vehicle Accessories

If you plan on traveling long distances during your hunting trip, it’s important that your vehicle is equipped with the best accessories available. From bumpers to covers, making sure that your vehicle is reinforced will help keep you safe from whatever you may encounter while hunting. It is especially important to maximize protection if you drive an ATV. For example supplies like Can-Am Defender accessories can optimize vehicles that may not be as durable on their own.

Remember to always take your hunting slow and careful. Not only will this provide you with the best results, but it will also give you plenty of time to familiarize yourself with your gear and learn more about your available options. If you plan on traveling long, the right accessories can be invaluable as well.
