Where Are the Big Premier League Transfers of Summer 2015 Going to Land?

Posted on March 31, 2015 by John Harris

soccerSpring is here, and summer is just around the corner. And that means one thing for sports fans, the summer transfer window. Who needs to watch football when you can become engrossed in the endlessly fascinating merry go round that is the transfer window?

And, as you’d expect, the rumors are flying around already. The title isn’t yet won (although Chelsea look set to clinch it anytime now) but that won’t stop us talking about who’s heading where this summer.

Chelsea
The biggest and most exciting rumor doing the rounds at the moment concerns Chelsea and a bid for Gareth Bale. A lot of people have been scratching their heads wondering how this Chelsea team could be improved, but Bale would certainly do that.

It’s said that the club are ready to make a £75 million bid to Real Madrid for the Welsh winger. It hasn’t been a happy time at Real Madrid this season for him. His time at the club started well, but he’s recently been criticized by fans.

Manchester United
It’s thought that Manchester United will again spend big this summer in order to return to their former glory after another underwhelming season. Sites like www.transferrumours.co.uk have been carrying rumors about Fabio Coentrao signing from Real Madrid. The club have been chasing the player for some time now.

They’re also going to have to replace at least one of their strikers too though. The Daily Star are claiming that they’ll offload Robin Van Persie and instead bring in Edinson Cavani to replace him.

Arsenal
Arsenal recently missed out on the Manchester United defender Chris Smalling after the player committed his future to his current club. So, where next for Arsenal?

There aren’t too many big rumors doing the rounds concerning the club, but there are a few small links. Some sources are claiming that the club could be interested in Spanish winger Pedro from Barcelona. Others say Palermo striker Paulo Dybala could interest Wenger.

Manchester City
Before Manchester City worry about bringing in new players, they should focus on keeping hold of the best ones they already have. A lot of rumors are linking David Silva with Barcelona, but fans will be relieved to hear that Silva is happy at the club.

The main target for the club seems to be Kevin de Bruyne. The 23-year-old Belgian currently plays in Germany for Wolfsburg and would cost around £40 million.

Liverpool
The big departure in the summer for Liverpool will be Steven Gerrard, who is leaving to play in the MLS in America. He’s one of the club’s greatest players, so he’ll leave big boots to fill. That job could be taken up by Jordan Henderson.

But there are also rumors linking the Barcelona midfielder Alex Song (who is currently on loan at West Ham) with a move to Anfield. He used to play for Arsenal and may have the required experience to replace Gerard. Burnley striker Danny Ings is also still interesting manager Brendan Rodgers according to reports.

The great thing about the transfer window though is that it can spring surprises from out of the blue at any moment. Some of these rumors will come to fruition but even more will emerge in the coming months.
