Tourist Destinations in Pakistan for Koreans

Posted on February 07, 2023 by Jonh Robinson

In Pakistan, you can find the most charming destinations in South Asia, especially for travelers coming from Korea. It is said that this country is among the most popular destinations for many of the famous K-pop bands, and this has made their fans want to visit it as well.

Pakistan has history, culture, and architecture like no other place. It is where the oldest Harappa kingdom was located, which existed in the 23rd-17th centuries BC. The early Gandhara Buddhists, the heirs of Alexander the Great, the Seleucids, and the great Mughals left their mark on this country. You will also find the foothills of the Himalayas, the remains of Buddhist monasteries, medieval Muslim mystics, and the magnificent temples of Lahore.

These are some of the most visited destinations:

1. Lahore Fortress

This 12th-century building served as the residence of Muhammad Guri. It is located between Tibet, India, and Persia. Although this place was repeatedly conquered, destroyed, and rebuilt, today, it is a great tourist destination.

2. The Genius Mausoleum

It is the tomb of the founder of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and is located in the city of Karachi. It is a modern building from the 1960s, built with white marble. The mausoleum is considered one of the most important symbols of the country. Thousands of Pakistanis come daily to pay homage to the founding father of their nation, and today so do many foreigners.

3. Badshahi Mosque

This temple was constructed by the last of the Mughals, Emperor Aurangzeb, who also participated in the creation of the Taj Mahal. It was built in the 17th century, when the Mughal architectural style flourished, and it attracts many tourists nowadays.

4. Faisal Mosque in Islamabad

This temple was constructed by the King of Saudi Arabia, Faisal ibn Abdulaziz al-Saud. The building does not repeat the traditional canons of Muslim mosques since it was built in a modern style. This attracts many foreigners, especially architects, who want to understand the change made to the traditional construction of the country.

5. Wazir Khan Mosque

This picturesque mosque in Lahore is an architectural masterpiece with richly decorated and brightly painted walls. The interior has not changed since the 17th century, which makes it retain its essence and culture. It is perfect for anyone who still values destinations that have not been modernized.

6. Baltit Fort

This fortress is a three-story building with a rectangular base in the city of Karimabad. It was originally built to ensure control and order during the seasonal trade between Central and South Asia; today, it is a tourist destination with a museum.

7. Derawar Fort

This majestic medieval fortress is considered one of Pakistan’s most striking destinations. You can observe walls that reach a length of almost 30 meters and seem to disappear into the sky. The fort is still well-preserved and perfect for an all-day tour.

8. Shalimar Gardens

The public park, which Emperor Jahangir established, is a wonderful monument to the art of Mughal gardening. You will find waterfalls, decorative ponds, mosques decorated with mosaics, marble palaces that delight the eyes, and much more.

But to visit all these destinations, depending on your nationality, you will likely need a travel document.

Foreign travelers usually need to apply for an electronic visa to travel to Pakistan. This document is valid for three months and allows visitors to stay in Pakistan for up to 30 days per entry on a single-entry basis.

A visa on arrival is also available for some foreign nationals, but it is essential to educate yourself before traveling. Only citizens of 65 countries can obtain a visa on arrival in Pakistan, and only for tourist purposes.
