Millions of people around the world are passionate about sports and play them and/or watch them on a daily or weekly basis. If you’re one of them, you no doubt have favorite teams you cheer for passionately, spend much of your leisure time being active in your sports support and wish that you could somehow make a living on this interest.
Well, the fact is that you probably can. There are all sorts of sports-related jobs on offer, most of which don’t actually require you to be fit enough or young enough to play professionally. Thanks to technology, you can also work for a company that may be located thousands of miles away, so you don’t even need to find an employer in your local area.
If you’re keen to pursue a new, sports-related career, read on for some tips you can follow to help you make your dreams come true.
Learn About the Different Job Options
For starters, it’s important to do your research, so you know about all the different job options available. While at first you might think that you can’t work in the sporting arena because nothing matches your skill set, when you find out how many different fields there are, you’re sure to find something to suit.
For example, you can help athletes to stay in top shape by becoming a physical or occupational therapist, a masseuse, acupuncturist or other type of therapist. Jobs can be in private practice or working full-time for a particular sporting team or organization. If, instead, you want to help sports people focus on their mental preparation or deal with the stress of their career, consider becoming a specialist sports psychologist.
If you’re good with numbers you could become a statistician, examining sports analytics for a living (a growing field) or if you enjoy negotiating contracts and deals and building relationships, then becoming a sports agent or manager could be the right fit for you. Read the rest of this entry →

Partner up
You may be working for yourself, but that does not mean that you have to work by yourself. You can work with other people who have a coaching business. You should try to work with people who are in the same industry as you. Partnering up with other coaches will help you develop more ideas that will make your business a success.
Build Credibility
People want to be lectured by people who are reliable and experienced. That is why building your credibility is one of the most important things that you can do as a coach. You can complete training courses in your industry. You can also earn certifications, or even just showcase your proficiency with career skills like player evaluation. There are many PEM Application Tools and similar resources available today to help with that. It can also be helpful to read books about your industry.

There are so many sports out there that require having a professional team. However, in order to be able to build and maintain a successful team one does not only need talent. They also need a lot of determination and good spirit. If you want to play basketball, football or baseball you need a good team – otherwise, your coaching efforts will go unnoticed. Nonetheless, a lot of people are wondering what makes a regular team a successful one. Training a sports team is a challenging job, but it is very rewarding at the same time.
The way you train your sports team has several positive impacts on their results. That’s because training motivates athletes to become better, boosts up their running efficiency and it makes their bodies a lot stronger. At the same time, their capabilities as athletes are polished and enhanced. No matter the result at the end of a game, the positive experience of coaching outweighs the episodic moments of distrust, uncertainty or fatigue that arise after a long season. Nonetheless, if you keep having bad feelings about your teams or you feel stressed out, and nothing seems to be going right, there might be something else to blame. Failure is not always the fault of the coach, but there are some strategies to make team management more successful.
Always Communicate
Communication is one of the most important factors in people’s lives. Nothing is possible without communication. Yet, constant communication is expected at all times. Back in the day communication was a lot different. Coaches would tell parents and kids were practices were, and they had to show up no matter what. Nowadays, busy family schedules or crowded facilities require constant communication. Communication can take so many shapes or forms these days. Coaches can send a single message, either a text or an email, to the whole team, instead of calling a million people. Therefore, communication makes the team stronger, and it is an essential element of sports team management. Read the rest of this entry →

Sporting events are always quite popular no matter what age you are. Many communities offer these events for youth leagues, alumni events at schools or fun games as part of community days. However, without the right planning, a sporting event can quickly get off on the wrong foot and end up as a disaster. Whether you are organizing a Little League game or a charity sporting event for your community, use these tips to ensure that all aspects of the event are successful and that all of those present enjoy this time.
Choose a Venue
First, you must consider where you want to hold your event. To determine this, you will need to think about what time of year it is, what the weather will be like, how many people will need to be seated at the event and what age groups are going to be represented. You should also choose a venue with appropriate bathroom facilities and possibly locker rooms or dressing areas depending on the event to be held there.
Add Concessions
Concessions can make a good event great and are particularly important for larger and lengthier events. Consider seeing if local restaurants or ice cream stores in your area are willing to bring a truck to sell concessions at the venue. If you are hosting your event in an indoor facility, it may be easier to get concession stands incorporated. Read the rest of this entry →

Finding a new job is probably the most boring, exhausting and daunting things that you could be doing with life after college, but switching careers from a secure job to another industry? That’s a huge challenge! When you’ve been working in a particular career for a long time you could become too comfortable, and while this is great for your business, it’s not going to be good for you if you aren’t entirely interested in what you’re doing. If you wanted to move into a career in sports because you love it so much, and your resume doesn’t have much on it that includes sports involvement beyond cheering on your team, what do you do?
Well, you need to think of your brand. You may well have been running your own company with a good PayPal working capital that keeps your branding and marketing going, but that doesn’t mean you have any idea what it means to brand yourself. A lot of people base their own brand on what they do for a living, but if you’ve never worked in sports before you’re going to need to know how to rebrand yourself to be attractive to recruiters. It’s important to look at your resume for exactly what it is: a way to market yourself. Your resume isn’t your job application, it’s your document that explains exactly who you are and what you can do. If you’re an artist who is looking to move into a creative marketing role in the sports industry, make yourself shine by showing your own logo and design the company you’re hoping to move to a funky new artwork for their logo, too. Those who want to be sports readers could start up a vlog on YouTube reporting the local sports results and giving commentary on games. You could provide your interviewer with a link on your resume and they can watch how confident you are on camera. Read the rest of this entry →

If you have a passion for sports, blogging is a great way for you to share your knowledge and insight with the world. Whether you want to blog for fun or profit, avid fans all over the world are looking for new sites to get their fix of sporting news and opinions, so there has never been a better time to join the blogosphere. A successful website could generate income or even lead to a career in sports journalism or game analysis; so, to help you get started, here’s how to create a winning sports blog.
Choose a Topic
Before you start writing posts, you need to choose a topic for your blog, such as your favorite sport, team or player. It’s important to identify a niche target audience early on, so try to be as specific as possible instead covering all sports.
For example, if you want to start a blog about American football, you could write about your favorite NFL player or create a website dedicated to their team’s victories. Sticking to a single blog topic means you’re always writing relevant content that your readers are interested in rather than trying to cover all bases.
Find a Blogging Platform
If you’re new to blogging, free software like WordPress is easy to use and requires very little technical know-how. However, there are two ways to set up a website using WordPress: you can visit WordPress.com which is free to use but has a lot of limitations, or you can use WordPress.org which gives you self-hosting and complete ownership over your site. WordPress is a great tool, but it’s not the only platform on the market. There are other free blogging sites too, like Blogger, Wix, and Tumblr, so do your research before you decide which one is right for you. Read the rest of this entry →
